Adversity

For me, this word conjures up images of civil rights and is a frequent buzz-word interjected by bleeding heart liberals. But think about it.
Teenagers suffer under-the-surface every day by struggling to maintain a specific persona. This goes beyond the confines of school and into their home and social life.
What makes homeschoolers exempt from experiencing this?
Nothing.
Speaking on my own behalf, I feel more acceptance from my public school friends, than by my fellow homeschoolers. (I suppose it's just second-nature for anyone to feel accepted by people whom they're not constantly surrounded.)
Which leads to my next question:
I'd really like to know what public schoolers think of us. Are we the same? Are we any less smart?
On a different note, has education become more than a privilege to learn? Has it become the basis of one's social status?
Of course. It's not going to change, and I'm fine with that.

Thursday

Tonight I get to go to TCBS. It's a Bible study for high school students.
Some of my favorite people attend there.
I wouldn't miss it for the world.
Not even if Lady Gaga herself showed up at my doorstep waiting to take me to tea.

(Which would be kinda creepy, now that I think about it.)

Little Grey Cells

"Oh it doesn't seem a year ago to this very day..."

The sole purpose of me keeping a notebook of my daily life, is so a year from that date, I can look back and read. It's my only motivation--truly, it is.
This Friday, I suddenly wanted to go back to Tempe and visit this old Tuberculosis hospital from the 60's that I photographed last year.
I looked in one of my notebooks, and realized it was March 19, 2009 when I first went there. Exactly, a year ago.
Coincidence?
Power of suggestion?
Haven't you ever read a date that just seems to jump off the page?
I do believe that our brain has a vault: something capable of accomplishing complex memory-recalling feats.
I read once in a medical journal that scientists have discovered neurons and pathways that remain untapped and inaccessible to us; but are manifested in strange ways.
It's what gives the autistic savants their extraordinary abilities.
I wonder if this is a glimpse of our brain capacity, as it will be in eternity...?

Screenwriting is Life

I feel like I know the Hero's Journey inside and out. The complexity of it, application, mastery, mythological, and historical significance.
But the question is: can I successfully apply it? Will I be able to create? Can I switch from knowing it, to putting my fingers on the keys and actually writing?
That, in itself, is the journey.
The transition; the leap.
The Call to Adventure.
