It's a song, a poem, a dance, a personality; an enjoyable journey. Take note of the unexpected feelings of completion and pangs of familiarity as it lingers in the air!

Hiatus
Life has pretty much been moving at light speed. But I've decided to concentrate on piano, softball, and my grades. Pretty pathetic how I don't have a social life outside of school, but thus is junior year.
I thought I knew what I wanted--and that was to be a director/screenwriter. The past year has changed that. I still love film/plays. Directing Julius Caesar for my Konos class in the fall was so natural for me and I loved it. However, as time passes and my ASU music audition approaches, I find the film industry to be lost, shallow, void of any creativity, and a dead-end life. I'm not sure I want to venture into something that is so uncertain. Besides, I can always go to film school later, but, I can't miss out on piano.
There are only 8 more weeks of school!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe how fast everything has gone. Summer is almost here! And by summer I mean, stay in the house and finish my spanish and world history credit. heheh..
BUT. I have a few things planned that I'm super excited about:
KidsGames in San Diego. Volunteering at my aunt's church for VBS. (5th year)
A Christian surf camp in San Diego. (Something I've wanted to do for ages.)
Staying in a houseboat on an AZ lake with multiple relatives. (FUN)
Family reunion in Minnesota.
Wooooooo it's going to be amaazzing.

F5
What an eye-opening night. I feel like I've 'refreshed' the page of my life.
I love days where it just feels like a push-and-pull struggle; lots of confusion, blurry life before your eyes, and so many factors pulling you in the right direction, and leading up to something you've been waiting to hear for months.
It's hard when your generation is moving at such a fast speed, that it's hard to clue adults in on what's going on around you when they can't even listen to 2 seconds of it without popping a gasket.
It's hard to convince people that you're not like the world; and it's an even harder thing to not live like the world.
Heartache will follow--whether you like it or not. And not to sound existential, but there comes a time when the 'go-with-the-flow-kidhood' screeches to an halt, and life turns into a big, scary carnival ride.
Heartache doesn't always have to happen with something large: even the smallest details can be earth-shattering. The issue of childhood friends falling away from the Lord is becoming the biggest issue of my life, 2011.
It's times like these when I piece the puzzle of the present with the parts of my past.
I'm looking forward to the future. To see my friends grow up, to pray for my friends, and to heal heartaches with the peace that passes all understanding.

I've been shooting in manual lately. I found my mom's old camera from her high school years and have been SO inspired to shoot in 35 mm again! To learn the feel of not using auto, I've turned off the picture preview on my Canon Rebel XTi, and kept it on 'manual' mode. When I graduate to the film camera, I'll probably be posting pictures. :D
Hymns
To improve my sight-reading skills for piano, I sit down and play 3 hymns every day. I'm using this book. It's a really great concept: hymns are listed in order by year, and with every hymn comes 2-3 paragraphs explaining the history behind the writer/year. I highly recommend this book! I even feel like I'm getting a history lesson behind the world's greatest hymn writers, while experiencing beautiful worship music.

Waking Up From the Pill
Waking Up From the Pill
Probably the most enthralling article I've read this year.
It even beats all the Christopher Nolan interviews I read feverishly over the summer.

I don't believe in karma... but...
Texting
Sunday 10:30 PM
Josh
I am sick and can't go to school tomorrow. Can you turn in my project for me?
Eve
you're sick? what do you have? ok sure
Josh
A sore throat. Thanks.
Eve
O maybe i will be sick too
Josh
I legit sick
Eve
I legit talk in broken english
The next day my throat felt a little funny. And this carried on until Tuesday. Wednesday I was 'legit sick' also, and felt SUPER crummy and was scrambling to do all my homework in time for Thursday. Stayed home from school on Thursday. Stayed home from school all day today watching a House marathon, and finished off the day watching Bizet's 'Carmen' on the DVR. Dad was super angry to hear opera, so I decided to practice piano.
The lesson here is: you shouldn't secretly wish to be sick on a Sunday night--needing to wake up in 5 hours--because you might actually become sick and feel crappy.

(Eve on her potential future in filmmaking)
"Success isn't what I'm looking for.
Just something done REALLY well."
There's a concept! Watch out, Hollywood!!

Driving
Got my permit last week and drove in the car with the driving instructor! It was so scary and confusing. But I stayed calm, and the lady was impressed at how well I was doing. By the end, driving wasn't that hard, and I truly think I can handle this growing up stuff. :]

Do Re Mi
I'm doing Do Re Mi this summer. It's a musical theatre camp. We're doing Bye Bye Birdie, and I wasn't too happy about that at first. "If it's anything like Grease, I'm not doing it."
Wrong.
This play is really cute, and I love the music and dancing! The 14th marks the halfway point in the 3-week-long camp. Today was the first time I've noticed us all collaborating and really gettin' into the dances. I can't wait for the shows!

October 3, 1993
"And the job demanded more. It demanded all you had, and more . . . because the price of failure was often death. That’s why Howe and the rest of the D-boys loved it. It separated them from other men. War was ugly and evil, for sure, but it was still the way things got done on most of the planet. Civilized states had non-violent ways of resolving disputes, but that depended on the willingness of everyone involved to back down. Here in the raw Third World, people hadn’t learned to back down, at least not until after a lot of blood flowed. Victory was for those willing to fight and die. Intellectuals could theorize until they sucked their thumbs right off their hands, but in the real world, power still flowed from the barrel of a gun. If you wanted the starving masses in Somalia to eat, then you had to outmuscle men like this Aidid, for whom starvation worked. You could send in your bleeding-heart do-gooders, you could hold hands and pray and sing hootenanny songs and invoke the great gods CNN and BBC, but the only way to finally open the roads to the big-eyed babies was to show up with more guns. And in this real world, nobody had more or better guns than America. If the good-hearted ideals of humankind were to prevail, then they needed men who could make it happen. Delta made it happen."
