A teen challenge guy came to our doorstep.
Mom wanted me to step outside and listen to his testimony, but I didn't have makeup on and my hair was a mess. Seconds later, I heard bits of a conversation and wanted to be out there too, besides I was being ridiculous about the whole appearance thing.
His name was Adam. He had an incredible story. We soon found out that he was home schooled and grew up in the church until he was 13 and then his parents went through a divorce, his dad became an alcoholic and he was put in public school. It was there where he tried marijuana for the first time. Fast forward a few years later, he faced 3-5 years in prison for assault and breaking into homes for heroin money.
He got out on a complete miracle. God gave him a second chance. Then he went to Teen Challenge.
I was floored. He was so on fire for Christ I could hardly get over it. Only 19, his life had been shattered, but rebuilt and restored completely by Christ. Now he wants to be a counselor and pastor
I'm so glad this happened today. A few things came to mind when he left:
what are some addictions in MY life?
what is the big picture?
are we really living life, just to live?
does it have to take a terrible drug-ridden life to have a close relationship with the Lord?
what am I meant to do?
a song on my mind today
