today I compiled an incomplete list of quiet nooks and crannies on campus. These places are ideal for studying, paper writing, and eating by myself LOL. I put the list on the back of my notebook.
Any level above 1 at the Hayden Library is pure, quiet, stuyding bliss. You feel like you step back in time while up there, it's STRAIGHT 1960s.
The 3rd floor is devoted entirely to Government documents and NOBODY is ever there. It's a huge floor full of rows and rows of books. As you pass the rows the smell of old books engulf you. They have books there from 1900 and later. They're still there because they're not in circulation anymore and can't be taken from the room. Library's keep everything nice. Tables, chairs, and floors are all in good/clean condition.
As I walked through an ilse, I saw a guy passed out on a bench, taking an impromtu nap with his face pressed to the germy blue pleather. I instantly rejoiced in my head: I've been looking for a nap area forever!
I think I'm beginning to enjoy this place. I don't know why. I don't know how. I only feel a slight inkling of endearment with my surroundings. This is good, considering all I've ever felt for the past 9 weeks is sheer terror and dissatisfaction.
I also found this place with benches on the roof of the office building connected to the circular music building. It's on the 3rd floor and is quiet and free of smokers.
I am really interested in teaching myself stenography. It's on my bucket list, so I start tomorrow. It's really easy, they have PDF files of the Gregg method online.
